The Canine Club

Where it all began

Hi, welcome to my whole heart, The Canine Club.

My name is Kemo Correia, I grew up in Milnerton, Cape Town with my parents and my younger brother. Ever since I can remember, my family always had pets: Dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, fish, rats, bunnies, and even a snake at one point!

I have an incredible obsession with all living creatures and if it wasn’t obvious already, DOGS are by far my most favourite of them all.

Although I did well, academically, I still always felt like school was a waste of time for me. I never felt passionate about any of the subjects that were available and decided to drop out in grade 10 and figure life out for myself.

A year after dropping out, I got my first very own dog, Kessa.

As all new dog owners do, I watched countless videos, read articles, and spent hours researching on the internet to find the best ways to give my dog a great life. While doing this one day I came across an advert to study to be a dog trainer, and a lightbulb went off in my head, I signed up right away and while working a full-time job as a PA and bartending on the side, I kept my nose in my books and did multiple courses on Canine Behaviour and dog training while volunteering at Pitpals local shelter for Pitbulls to provide myself with practice and experience. I have always had a great love for power breeds and The Canine Club will always be an advocate of this.

Eventually, I felt I was ready to pursue a career with dogs and sought out a job with a local dog-walking/dog training company and I was declined the opportunity. This really lowered my spirits until my closest friends motivated me to just do my own thing. And The Canine Club was born on May 25th, 2018!

With just 500 flyers we walked through the streets of Sunningdale and Parklands handing out our flyers until not a single flyer was left. And so, our journey began...

With an incredible response for the services we offered, we grew from strength to strength as a team and soon realised that Doggy Daycare was a much-needed service in the area. With an incredible support system from our clients, friends, and family as well as the most AMAZING team with all the passion in the world for dogs, we are now so so proud to be able to offer the community an array of Canine Lifestyle services and I could not be any prouder of what our Canine Club team has accomplished over the last few years. I get to live my “Dogs all day, everyday’’ dream and help so many dogs and their families to provide a better lifestyle for them.
